Mr. James Lee Hyatt, age 62, of Papa Cook Road, Boone, died Sunday evening, November 6, 2011 in Elizabethton, Tennessee. James was born in Elizabethton December 14, 1948. He was retired from Appalachian Brian Estates where he worked as the maintenance director. James was an avid fisherman and coached Little League baseball and football for many years; and was a US Army veteran having served in Vietnam. He volunteered at Watauga High School for 17 years as a member of the football team "chain gang". He is survived by: Kim Cook Hyatt of Boone, one daughter; Jennifer Trivett and husband Kevin of Boone, one son; Justin Hyatt of the US Army Ft. Bragg, his mother; Corda Greer Hyatt of Elizabethton, four grandchildren; Adam Matthew, Timothy Aaron, Nathaniel Pierce and Nicholas Maston Trivett, one sister; Helen White and husband Greg of Elizabethton and one brother; Roy Hyatt of Elizabethton. He was preceded in death by a son; James Lee Hyatt, Jr. Funeral services for Mr. James Lee Hyatt will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Gordon Noble. Military graveside rites and burial will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday prior to the service from noon until 2 o'clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home.
