Obituary of Jean H. Ward

Jean Herman Ward, age 80, of Mast Gap Road, Sugar Grove, died Sunday, October, 23, 2011 at her home. Born April 18, 1931 in Watauga County, she was a daughter of Martin and Junie Hollars Herman. Mrs. Ward was a long time member of Brushy Fork Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Her family was the love of her life and she especially enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Steve Ward and wife, Marie, of Boone and Randall Ward and wife, Max Ann, of Mountain City; her daughter, Denise Deitz of Zionville; six grandchildren, Zachary Ward and wife, Sarah, of Petoskey, Michigan, Linsey Ward of Charlotte, Seth Ward of Boone and Cory and Tanner Deitz, both of Zionville and Zane Ward of Mountain City; six great grandchildren; one sister, Mary Johnson of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; a special niece, June Norris of Vilas, and special friends, Rev. Delmar and Diane James of Sugar Grove.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Cannon Ward, daughter-in-law, Sandy Ward, son-in-law, Gary L. Deitz, four brothers, Ed, William, John and Kenneth Herman; three sisters, Elizabeth Knipl, Dorothy Wright and Eva Owen, and her father and mother-in-law, Floy and Leonard Ward.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon, October 27, 2011 at 2 o�clock at Brushy Fork Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Toby Oliver and Rev. Delmar James. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 until 2 o�clock, prior to services. Burial will follow in the Willow Valley Baptist Church Cemetery.
At other times, the family will be at the Ward residence in Sugar Grove.
