Obituary of Wayne E. Wagoner

Mr. Wayne Edward Wagoner of Hamptonville, N. C. died Sunday, October 23, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Wayne was born September 5, 1939 in Yadkin County to D. C. and Elizabeth Wagoner. After attending Guilford College in Greensboro, Mr. Wagoner was a teacher and coach at Southeast Guilford High School and then at Proximity Jr. High. Later in his career Mr. Wagoner was a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor with the Guilford County School System. Wayne was a long-time scoutmaster of Troop 103 at Summerfield United Methodist Church.
Mr. Wagoner was preceded in death by his son Matthew Wayne Wagoner. He is survived by his daughter Holly Wagoner Plowman and husband David of Chesterfield, Va.; daughter-in-law Yuko Wagoner Kanich and family of Summerfield; grandson Seth Matthew Wagoner Kanich and wife Sarai of Charlotte; great-grandson Alistair Stefan Kanich. Wayne is also survived by his four brothers and their wives: Bob and Marcella Wagoner of Chapel Hill, Garry and Dianne Wagoner of Triplett , Barry and Linda Wagoner of Hamptonville and Ricky and Sandy Wagoner of Mt. Airy. His is also survived by many loving cousins, nephews and nieces.
The memorial service and visitation will be Wednesday, October 26, at 1:00 pm at West Yadkin Baptist Church, 2929 U. S. Highway 21, Hamptonville, N. C. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boy Scouts of America.
