Obituary of Wilma S. Bare

Wilma Shook Bare, 88, of Grandfather Road, Banner Elk, died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Wilma Carmalee Shook was born February 5, 1923 in Watauga County, to Harvey Monroe and Lillian Presswood Shook. She was a member at Foscoe Christian Church and was a housewife and homemaker.
Mrs. Bare is survived by; four sons, Donald Bare and wife, Catherine, and Bob and Rick Bare, all of the Foscoe community; and Steve Bare of Detroit, Mich.; two daughters, Colleen Bare of Banner Elk, and Marleen Bare of Bellbrook, Ohio; one sister, Thelma Gibson of Kingsport, TN.; and four brothers, Carlos and Homer Shook, both of Spartanburg, SC, Hubert Shook of Banner Elk, and Dale Shook and wife, Loretta, of Spruce Pine. Also surviving are her ten grandchildren, including Chris, Shane, Robert and Michael Bare; and many beloved nephews and nieces, including special nieces, Kathy Cannon, Sandy Shook, Debbie Lacey and Lisa Shook.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bare, two children, Gerald David Bare and an infant, two brothers, Carmel and Johnny Shook.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, October 21, 2011 at 2 o'clock at the Foscoe Christian Church, officiated by Dan Burks and Ken Caswell. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2 o'clock, prior to services, at the church. Burial will follow in the Jestes Cemetery.
