Obituary of Henry T. Barber

Henry Thomas �Tom� Barber, 60, of Paul Carlton Road, Blowing Rock, died Monday, October 10, 2011 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Born June 3, 1951 in Pinehurst, he was a son of Raymond P. and Doris Colleen McKensie Barber. Tom was a member of the Middle Fork Baptist Church. He retired as superintendent of the water treatment plant in Southern Pines. Tom enjoyed his art, gardening, and yard work, but especially he loved assisting his wife in teaching sign language classes.
Surviving are his wife, Brenda Carlton Barber; two sons, Staff Sargeant Matthew Bradley Bettini and wife, Sharon, of Carthage, and Henry Barber of Blowing Rock; three grandchildren, Desiree, Victoria and Zachary Bettini; one sister, Helen Hooks and husband, Richard, one sister-in-law, Panda Barber Scarborough, and husband, Ronnie, all of Pinehurst; and his father-in-law, Paul Carlton of Blowing Rock. Also surviving are his extended family, Jim and Karen Carlton Coffey and son, Anthony, Craig and Colleen Carlton Lisk, their daughter Tish, and her husband Jim Robertson, and their children, James, Camille and Jake, Toni Carlton, Mark Shenes and Melody, and Eddie Carlton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Butch, Bill and Richard Barber.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon, Oct. 16, 2011, at 3 o�clock at Middle Fork Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Elliott Hayes and Rev. Jim Potts. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 1:30 until 3 o�clock, prior to services, at Middle Fork Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Cool Springs Community Cemetery.
Flowers are appreciated or the family suggests memorials to a charity of the donors� choice.
The family will be at the home of Jim and Karen Coffey, 343 Hidden Valley Circle in Boone.
