Obituary of Ruth P. Dotson

Mrs. Ruth Pitts Dotson, age 87, of Poplar Grove Road South, Boone, died Saturday morning, October 1, 2011 at Watauga Medical Center. Born April 23, 1924 in Watauga County, she was a daughter of the late Oscar and Orpha Tester Pitts. Ruth was a member of Poplar Grove Baptist Church and was retired from Sears. She is survived by one daughter; Kathy Adams and husband Jerry of Huntersville, one son; Bill Dotson and wife Shelia of Boone, seven grandchildren; Dawn Nicole Boyter, Daphne Genberg and husband Randy, William Dotson, III, Eddie Lopez and wife Heather, and Cynthia Venable and husband David all of Boone, Cheryl Stevens and husband Scott of Valrico, Florida and Pamela McCreary and husband Mike of Charlotte, ten great grandchildren, one sister; Ruby Soper of Norfolk, Virginia, and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband; William F. Dotson, Sr., four sisters; Sarah Townsend, Helen Dotson, Martha Carney and Ethel Hayes, and two brothers; J. C. Pitts and Hubert Pitts. Memorial services for Mrs. Ruby Pitts Dotson will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Poplar Grove Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Herbert McCoy. Burial will follow in the Pitts Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Poplar Grove Baptist Church.
