Mr. Alan Wellborn, age 94, of Bamboo Road, Boone, died Wednesday morning at Deerfield Ridge Assisted Living. Born October 18, 1916 in Watauga County, he was a son of the late Robert Alexander and Clemmie Watson Wellborn. Alan was a member of Laurel Springs Baptist Church and was a WWII Army Veteran. He was a retired machinist with Hasbro. He is survived by three brothers; Charles Wellborn and wife Mary Lou, and Junior Wellborn and Sue, all of Boone, and Bill Wellborn and wife Tommie of Deep Gap, two sisters; Daisy Walker of Boone and Mildred Michael of Atlanta, Georgia, and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Arlie Gibson Wellborn, one sister; Sarah Graybeal and three brothers; Arthur, Jim and Paul Wellborn. Graveside services with military honors for Mr. Alan Wellborn will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens Mausoleum. Officiating will be Rev. Derek Wilson. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 until 2 o'clock. At other times friends may call at the residence of Bill & Tommie Wellborn, 695 Brownwood Road, Deep Gap. The family respectfully requests no food.
