Obituary of Pauline B. McGuire

Pauline Blackburn McGuire, 93, of the Daniel Boone Condominiums, Boone, died Saturday, September 10, 2011 at Watauga Medical Center. Born May 29, 1918 in Todd, she was a daughter of Charles Hamp and Velma Grace Norris Blackburn. Mrs. McGuire was a member of the First Baptist Church of Boone. Pauline and her husband, Glenn, a school teacher and administrator, lived in various locations in North Carolina and Tennessee throughout his career. Following his retirement, they settled in the Deep Gap community. In addition to her life career as a housewife and homemaker, Pauline was employed for a time at the Watauga Medical Center in food services.
Mrs. McGuire is survived by her brother, Charles H. Blackburn, Jr. of Boone; three nieces, Tina Blackburn Callio of Boone, Judy Graham Liposchak of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Sharon Graham Doehring of Abingdon, Md.; and one nephew, Chris Blackburn of Granite Falls. Eight great-nieces and two great-nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Glenn Paul McGuire, sister, Ruth Blackburn, sister-in-law, Annie Carroll Blackburn, and her parents.
Memorial services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon, September l4, 2011, at 2 o'clock at the First Baptist Church of Boone, officiated by Rev. Roy Dobyns. The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 1 until 2 o'clock, one hour prior to services, at the church.
Private graveside services will be at Mount Lawn Memorial Park.
