Dr. Linda Herman Miller, age 63, Brentwood Drive, Gastonia, died Saturday morning, August 27, 2011 at Glenbridge Health & Rehabilitation in Boone. Linda Sue Herman was born April 19, 1948 in Watauga County. She attended Cove Creek Elementary and Watauga High Schools before graduating with a Masters Degree from ASU. She received her Doctor of Education from ETSU in Johnson City, TN. Dr. Miller retired from teaching in the Watauga and Gaston County school systems. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Gastonia. Linda is survived by her mother, Mildred Hayes Herman of Boone; two brothers, Gary Herman and wife, Linda, and Martin Herman and wife, Susan, all of Vilas; three nieces, Tonya Townsend and husband, Tony, of Mountain City, TN, Melinda Eggers and husband, Scott, and Melissa Greene and husband, Wayne, all of Vilas; one nephew, Jason Herman and wife, Heather, of Zionville; five great-nieces, Bailey and Marley Townsend, Kaylee and Mattie Eggers, and Sydney Herman; and two great-nephews, Mason Eggers and Kagen Townsend. A host of many friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Joseph Franklin Miller and her father, John Robert Herman. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at 3 PM at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. John Stanley and Rev. Toby Oliver. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1 until 3 o�clock, prior to services, at Austin & Barnes. Burial will follow in the Adams Cemetery.
