Capt. Milton "Scotty" Scott (USN retired), age 77, of Tampa, FL, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, August 16, 2011 at his second home in Banner Elk, NC. Born June 14, 1934 in Pitt County, NC he was one of four children born to the late Milton and Bettie Scott.
Scotty served his country in the U.S. Navy as a Naval Aviator for 30 years piloting A-4/F-4/F-14 aircraft. He retired with honors from the U.S. Navy on March 1, 1986. He was a member of the Association of Naval Aviation (ANA). Scotty was an avid boater and golfer and loved spending time with his family and their Shih Tzu \"Ilka\".
Scotty was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years; Christa Karin Scott, daughter; Lori Golightly and husband Niel of Berkshire, UK, sister; Linda Reed Smith of Atlantic Beach, NC, two brothers; Robert Ray Scott and wife Wanda of Shallotte, NC, and James Edwin Scott of Houston, TX, two stepsons; John David Patterson of Lexington Park, MD and Michael Christopher Patterson and wife Genny of Spotsylvania, VA, five grandchildren; Scott and Adam Golightly of Berkshire, UK and Christa, Christopher and Casey Patterson of Spotsylvania, VA, along with myriad friends and family whom were blessed to have known him.
Scotty touched the lives of many people with his smile and kindness, and maintained his trademark sense of humour all the way to the end. His caring, devotion, and love will be missed. His generosity and kind heart were an inspiration to all of his family and friends. He lived his life with integrity and bravery. His \"howdy partner\" will be especially missed by his friends and fellow golfers at the \"Saturday Morning Golf Classic\" each week at MacDill Air Force Base.
Family and friends are invited to attend the memorial service scheduled for Wednesday, 19 October 2011, at 1100 at Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10,000 Bay Pines Blvd., St. Petersburg, FL 33708. A reception will follow the memorial service at Scotty and Christa Scott\'s home at Mariner North, 5701 Mariner Street, Tampa, FL 33609. In lieu of flowers, the family requests all donations be made to the Fisher House Foundation in memory of Scotty.
