Obituary of Addie H. Dollar

Addie Mae Hicks Dollar, 91, of Michael Road, Trade, Tennessee, died Wednesday morning, August 17, 2011 at Watauga Medical Center. Born February 25, 1920 in Watauga County, she was a daughter of Calvin and Nora Hicks. Addie Mae loved the Lord, her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed quilting, tending her gardens and the companionship of her pets, Annie Bell, Cheech and Gizmoe. Mrs. Dollar is survived by one daughter, Gerri Townsend of Trade; two sons, Silas Purtle of Boone and daughter-in-law, Laurie of Sebastian, Fl. and Buddy Dollars and wife, Shellie, of Sugar Grove; six granddaughters, Miranda Townsend, Addie Faith Dollars, Cora and Violet Purtle and Bridget and Brooke Kuntze, and three grandsons, Joseph Townsend and wife, Britany, Jesse Townsend and Calvin Dollars; her brother, Jack Hicks; a special niece, Donna Lunsford of Deep Gap; and son-in-law, Ronnie Townsend of Cape Carteret, NC. A number of nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert R. Dollar, parents, Calvin and Nora Hicks, her brothers and sisters, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday morning, August 20, 2011, at 11 o'clock at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Mark Chaney and Rev. Larry Dollars. The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 9:30 until 11 o'clock, prior to services, at Austin & Barnes. Burial will follow in the Old St. Johns Cemetery.
