June Harmon Weaver age 85, of Valley Hill Drive, Vilas, died Tuesday afternoon, August 16, 2011 at 12 o'clock at her home. Born May 30, 1926 in Avery County, she was a daughter of Will J. and Bertie Ward Harmon. June was a wonderful housekeeper and a good cook and enjoyed traveling with her husband and tending her flower and vegetable gardens. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Boone. Mrs. Weaver is survived by her husband, William T. Weaver; four brothers, Gale Harmon and Ted Harmon, both of Elk Park, Bill Harmon and wife, Joann, of Sugar Grove, and Ewing Harmon and wife, Frances, of Vilas; sister-in-law, Sue Harmon of Butler, TN., and her special friend and caregiver, Maxie Jones. Eleven nieces and nephews and a number of cousins also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Nannie Lou Norris and three brothers, Clint and infants, Charlie and Dwight Harmon. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon, August 18th, 2011 at 2 o'clock at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Minister J. C. Anderson and Rev. Quincy Norris. The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon from 1 until 2 o'clock, prior to services, at Austin & Barnes. Burial will follow in the Harmon Family Cemetery.
