Obituary of Ellard G. Cornett

Mr. Ellard Glenn Cornett, age 80, of Milton Brown Heirs Road, and a former resident of Mountain City, died Monday morning, August 15, 2011 at Glenbridge Health & Rehabilitation. Born January 6, 1931 in Watauga County he was a son of the late Fred M. Cornett and Bonnie Ragan Cornett. Mr. Cornett was a member of Mountain Dale Baptist Church and worked at ASU in housekeeping. He is survived by two daughters; Sherry Reese and husband Gary of Vilas and Marlene Oliver of Elizabethton, his mother; Bonnie Cornett Shaw of Boone, two sisters; Martha Phillips and husband Bill of Zionville and Mary Cornett of Boone, one sister in law; Louise Cornett of Boone, three grandchildren; Gregory and Jeffrey Reese and Kim Moore, 4 step children; 3 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his first wife; Lucille Cornett, his second wife; Mildred Harmon Cornett; one sister; Pauline Ward; two brothers; Albert and Tommy Cornett and two step children. Funeral services for Mr. Ellard Glenn Cornett will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Eric Cornett, Rev. Carl Johnson, and Rev. Quincy Norris. Burial will follow in the Mountain Dale Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon prior to the service from 12:30 until 2 o'clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home.
