Mr. Scott Grant Burleson, age 81, of Highland Avenue, Boone, died Wednesday morning, July 13, 2011 at home. Born April 25, 1930 in Avery County he was a son of the late Zeb and Betsy Elizabeth Hoilman Burleson. Scott was a US Army Veteran and was a retired truck driver. He was of the Baptist Faith and was a former Shriner.
He is survived by his wife; Betty Danner Burleson, one son; Scott Grant Burleson, Jr., and wife Ann of White House, Tennessee, two daughters; Rita Alexander of Nashville, Tennessee and Carrie Williams of Morristown, Tennessee, one step-daughter; Sandy Church of Wellington, Florida, two brothers; Pat Burleson and Ralph Burleson and wife Betty all of Newland, one sister; Julie Franklin of Plumtree, and five grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters; Belle Richardson and Opal Calhoun and two infant sisters; Nell and Ona Burleson.
Funeral services for Mr. Scott Grant Burleson will be conducted Friday morning at 11 o'clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Harold Dellinger. Burial will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Medi Home Hospice, PO Box 1357, Newland, NC 28657. The family will receive friends Friday morning prior to the service from 10 o'clock until 11 o'clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home.
