Obituary of Gardia N. Larson

Gardia Nelson Larson, 84, of Teaberry Hills Road, Boone, died Sunday afternoon, July 10, 2011 at her home. Born October 21, 1926 in Canby, Minnesota, she was a daughter of Lloyd Manfred and Hilda Jacobson Nelson. Gardia was a graduate of the class of 1948 at St. Olaf College in North Field, Minnesota, majoring in English and History. She loved books, reading, her music and her home community of Canby, Minnesota, but the love of her life was her family. Mrs. Larson was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
Surviving are her husband, Ole Larson; three sons, Stephen Weik Larson and Erik John Larson, both of Boone, and Chris Robert Larson of Reno, Nevada. A number of cousins also survive.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Lloyd Manfred Nelson II.
Services for Mrs. Larson will be conducted Saturday, July 16, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church (Boone) with Vicar Jonathan Weant officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 pm (at the church) one hour prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Cancer Research, National Cancer Institute, Building 31, Room 11A-l6, 9000 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, Maryland 20892
