Obituary of Marie T. Hayes

Marie Tschetter Hayes, 85, of Banner Elk, died Monday, June 20, 2011 at Life Care of Banner Elk. Born October 6, 1925 in Freeman, South Dakota, she was a daughter of Paul and Susie Hoffer Tschetter. Ms. Hayes was of the Methodist faith. As a homemaker, she enjoyed cooking and baking for her family.
Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Brown and husband, Stephen, of Sunset, LA, and Joy Doherty of Prescott, AZ; and three sons, Glen Hayes and wife, Christie, of Covington, LA, Jim Hayes of Asheville, and Larry Hayes and wife, Elizabeth, of Elk Park.
Nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Hayes.
Memorial services will be celebrated Tuesday morning, June 28th at 10 o'clock at Arbor Dale Presbyterian Church in Banner Elk, officiated by Rev. Tee Gatewood. The family will receive friends following services at the church.
