Myra Rankin Fielden, 93, of Seven Oaks Road, Boone, died Sunday morning, June 19, 2011 at her daughter's home, where she resided for more than 10 years. Born May 28, 1918 in Jefferson County, TN, she was the daughter of I. L. 'Fate' and Grace Ward Rankin. Mrs. Fielden served as a foreign missionary in Brazil. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Knoxville and attended Shekinah Gathering in Boone. She was always active in the Women's Missionary Union at the churches she attended, and enjoyed cooking meals, her flowers, and especially all University of Tennessee sports.
Mrs. Fielden is survived by her daughter, Anita Stroupe and husband Lee, of Boone, and her son, Dr. Gary Fielden and wife, Dr. Rebecca Watson, of Kingsport, TN; three sisters, Wanda Thomas of Jefferson, City, TN, Lillian Holsaple and husband Bob, and Tommye Rankin, all of Knoxville, TN; five grandchildren, Kristin Stroupe of New York, NY, David Stroupe of Charlotte, Laura Fielden of Merida, Spain, Natalie Fielden Helton and husband Rob, of Murfreesboro, TN and Taylor Fielden of Knoxville, TN; and two great-grandchildren, Christian and Cameron Helton. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Cleva Cox.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon, June 21, 2011 at 2 o'clock at the Farrar Funeral Home Chapel in Jefferson City, TN, officiated by Rev. Nancy Sehested. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1 until 2 o'clock, prior to services, at Farrar Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
