Obituary of Ruby R. Greer

Ruby Ray Greer, age 79, of Browns Chapel Road, Boone, went to be with her Lord Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Glenbridge Health and Rehabilitation. Ruby was born May 8, 1932 in Mill Creek, a daughter of Lee and Cleo Wilcox Ray. Mrs. Greer was a homemaker who loved her family and tending to her flowers.
She is survived by three sons, Steve Greer and wife, Janet, of Hickory, Billy 'Bill' Greer of Boone and Rex Greer and wife, Patty, of Fleetwood; five grandchildren, Lance Greer and wife, Jennifer, of Asheville, Celeste Greer of Charlotte, Lindsay Greer of Todd, and Bridgette and David, both of Fleetwood; one brother, Wade Ray and wife, Margaret, and one sister, Carol Ray, all of Wilkesboro. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Ellison Greer, infant brother, Lonnie, and five sisters, Georgia Bledsoe, Betty and Bonnie Sheets, Wilma Wood and Lorene McMillian.
Services will be conducted Friday, June l7, 2011, at 2 o'clock at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Gary Lawrence. The family will receive friends Friday from 1 until 2 o'clock, prior to services, at Austin & Barnes.
Burial will follow in the Wilcox Cemetery.
