Deryl Dennis Danner, Sr. passed away peacefully on May 20, 2011 at the age of 57. Mr. Danner retired from the United States Air Force and worked until his death for the Air Force in the Civil Service. At his passing, Mr. Danner was Director for Historical Services, Office of Special Investigations at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland.
The son of Betty Moretz of Boone and the late George Claude Danner Jr., of Hickory, Mr. Danner leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Kyong Ah 'Jo' Danner; two sons, Deryl Dennis Danner, Jr. and wife, Cheryl, of Cambridge, MA and Jamie Im-Danner of White Plains, MD; one daughter, Catherine Crudup of White Plains, MD; one sister, Kweta Danner of Boone; and two brothers, George Danner and wife, Violet, of New London, CT, and Doug Danner and wife, Debbie, of Huntersville. He is also survived by two grandchildren; Ronnie Eugene and Kendra Sheree Crudup, as well as a number of aunts, uncle, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Danner was a graduate of Los Angeles Metropolitan City College, Southern Illinois University and Oklahoma University from which he earned a masters degree in human relations.
Deryl was a man of faith and compassion. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather.
A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 2 o'clock at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Doug Danner officiating. Visitation will precede the memorial service from 1 until 2 o'clock. Interment will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park and Gardens in Boone.
