Mrs. Melba Hollars Hayes, age 86, of Dove Acres, Vilas, went to be with her Lord, Tuesday morning May 24, 2011 at Life Care Center of Banner Elk. She was born February 1, 1925 in Watauga County to the late Fowel H. and Nora Mae Earp Hollars. Melba was an active member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. She was a retired housekeeper at ASU. In addition to her parents Melba was preceded in death by her husband Carl M. Hayes and her faithful companion CoCo.
Funeral services for Mrs. Melba Hollars Hayes will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2 o�clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Carl Wilson, Rev. Burl Greer and Rev. Wynn Greer. Burial will follow at Adams Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 1 until 2 o�clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home. Melba requested no food or flowers and suggested memorials to Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, 1128 Baird�s Creek Road, Vilas, NC 28692.
