Obituary of Ruth Y. Hayes

Ruth Yates Hayes, age 65, of Milton Brown Heirs Road, Boone, died Friday morning, May 20, 2011 at her home. Ruthella Epsie was born December 14, 1945 in Boone to Barthello and Mollie Brown Yates. She retired from IRC with 45 years service. Ruth was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by four children, Rosie Edwards and husband, Keith, of Morganton, David Hayes and wife, Kathy, and Susan Fuentes and husband, Gustavo, all of Boone, and Rachel Newman and husband, Eddie, of Sugar Grove; eleven grandchildren, Jessica Baumgardner and husband, Perry Lee, and Justin Edwards and wife,Yang Lee, all of Morganton, Amanda Norman and husband, Jake, of Banner Elk, Chris Hayes and wife, Kendra, Natalie Powers and husband, Ryland, Nailea and Gustavo Fuentes, all of Boone, Carolyn Miller and husband, Jason Palmer, of Sugar Grove, Ray Simcox and Diane Wiles and husband, Dustin, all of West Jefferson and Brenda Fuentes of Mexico; nine great-grandchildren, Destiny, Ethan, Colin, Savannah, Makenlea, Madason, Gracie, Mia, and Sohemi; five sisters, Mary Moretz and husband, Wade, of Deep Gap, Martha Reece and husband, Johnny, of Boone, Susie Townsend and husband, Denver, Betty Townsend and husband, Earl, and Verdie Broyhill, all of Lenoir; and three brothers, Burl Yates and wife, Earlene, and Claude Yates, all of Boone and Grady Yates of Sugar Grove. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Flossie Broyhill, and a granddaughter Blanca Fuentes. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 2 PM at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. T. J. Jackson and Rev. David Ward. The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon from 12:30 until 2:00, prior to services, at Austin & Barnes. Burial will follow at the Hampton-Yates Cemetery.
