Obituary of Tommy E. Sluder

Tommy Earl Sluder, 76, of South Spruce Street, Wilkesboro, and a former resident of the Foscoe community, died Sunday, March 13, 2011,at the Watauga Medical Center. Born May 19, 1934 in Watauga County, he was a son of Arl and Eva Calloway Sluder. Tommy served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed for many years at Vermont American and his hobbies included raising Christmas Trees and enjoying his vegetable gardens.
Mr. Sluder is survived by two daughters, Deborah Sluder of Wilkesboro and Annette Sluder of Boone; one brother, Pete Sluder and wife, Betty, of York, SC and one sister, Rebecca Barnes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Murray Sluder.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon, March 16, 2011 at 2 o'clock at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 until 8:30 at Austin & Barnes.
