Robert Allen �Bob� Adams, 77, of Russell Beach Road, Vilas, died Thursday, March 10, 2011 at his home. Born November 20, 1933 in Watauga County, he was a son of Dolph and Ellen McNeil Adams. Bob was a member of Vilas Valley Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and retired from the steam Plant at ASU.
Mr. Adams is survived by one son, Robert Allen Adams, Jr. of Butler, TN; one daughter, Addie Ellen Dotson and husband, Keith, of Vilas; two step-daughters, Beverly Church and husband, Wayne, of Mountain City, TN and Teresa Ann Dandy of Boone; one step-son; Willie Ralph Dandy of Zionville, one grandson, Andrew Adams of Boone; three granddaughters, Kortni Burkett of Vilas, Lea Harmon and husband, Claude, and Brandy Dotson, all of Sugar Grove; two step-granddaughters, Jamie McLean and husband, Justin, of Taylorsville and Suzanne Potter of Zionville; step-grandson, Keric Potter and wife Serena of West End, NC; five great-grandchildren, Dasia May, Dalton Adams, Riley Hollars, Austin Harmon and Isaiah Gonzalez; ten step-great grandchildren, and one step-great-great granddaughter; three sisters, Rachel Combs of Mountain City, TN, Glenda Aldridge and husband Elmer of Vilas, and Minnie Mercer of Arizona; three brothers, Perry Adams and wife, Mary, of Vilas, Everett Adams and wife, Gladys, of Trade, TN, and Bill Adams and wife, Wanda, of Mountain City; and his special friend and brother-in-law, Russell Beach of Vilas.
A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Adams, three sisters, Bonnie Beach, Mary Rominger and Janie Broyhill, and one brother, Dave Adams.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon, March 13, 2011 at 3 o�clock at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Dan Church and Mr. Elmer Johnson. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 1:30 until 3 o�clock, prior to services, at Austin & Barnes. Burial will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park.
