Obituary of Betty Jo Henson

Mrs. Betty Jo Henson, age 71, of Howard Edmisten Road, Sugar Grove, died Sunday evening, February 27, 2011 at home. She was born August 21, 1939 in Atlanta, Texas, and grew up in Vivian, Louisiana. She was a graduate of Louisiana Tech. Betty received her MA from Texas A & M University, where she met her husband Richard in 1966. Mrs. Henson taught Language Arts at Cove Creek Elementary School for 19 years. She also taught at several schools in Texas. Betty was a member of Boone United Methodist Church and was a member of Boone United Methodist Church Women Circle # 1. She is survived by her husband of 44 years; Richard N. Henson, one daughter; Angela Henson Stewart and husband Ray of Suwanee, Georgia, one son; Mark Henson and wife Daisy of Sierra Vista, Arizona, four grandchildren; Ryan and Sam Stewart of Suwanee, Georgia, and Maya and Noah Henson of Sierra Vista, Arizona, and one brother; Bob Hines and wife Jo Ann of Bentley, Louisiana. A Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Betty Jo Henson will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o�clock at Boone United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Dr. George Naff. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Boone United Methodist Church Building Fund or to the Boone United Methodist Church Women Scholarship Fund, 471 New Market Boulevard, Boone, NC 28607.
