Dr. Sean Christiaan Marshall passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 13. He was the founder, president and headmaster of Jung Tao School of Classical Chinese Medicine located in Sugar Grove, NC. He was born in Asheboro North Carolina on October 2, 1948. Dr. Marshall was preceded in death by one sister, a brother, his parents and an infant daughter named Ariel. Survivors include beloved wife Celeste von Mangan and daughter Eve; adult children Brandi, Sean and Caitlin; sisters Sally and Doris; mother-in-law Helen; father-in-law Chuck; sister-in-laws Cathee and Kathy; son-in-law Danny and daughter-in-law Michelle; good friends Gene, Martha, Barry and Twila; plus numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Dr. Marshall was a pioneer in his chosen field of classical Chinese medicine and acupuncture. An accomplished musician, Dr. Marshall played lead guitar for several prominent bands in the 1960s and 70s. He continued composing music until his death and favorite composers were Mozart and Beethoven. He enjoyed teaching Eve to play guitar and keyboards and creating compositions for wife Celeste Eve. Dr. Marshall also enjoyed astronomy, quantum physics, wildlife, watching his pets play, in particular his cat Little Tso and especially missed a special three-legged dog named Caspar, who died four years ago. Dr. Marshall has published numerous articles as relates to Chinese medicine as well as books and translated texts. He was a humble man despite all his many accomplishments and his family and friends have been left in deep grief, though his wife and daughter will carry on with both his music and medicine. Dr. Marshall honored his Blackfoot heritage and was a pipe carrier for the Eastern Band of Cherokee. A private memorial pow wow is planned sometime in May for Dr. Marshall. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to a fund for Eve.
