Obituary of Lewis F. Brown

Lewis Franklin Brown, age 77, of North Pine Run Road, Boone, died Saturday morning, February 12, 2011 at his home. Born June 23, 1933 in Watauga County, he was a son of Stewart Brown, Sr. and Annie Vines Brown. Lewis was a member of Rutherwood Baptist Church. He retired as a maintenance engineer at Watauga Medical Center with thirty years of service. Mr. Brown was a veteran of the US Army and served during the Korean Conflict. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Faye Sheffield Brown; son, Franklin Brown of Boone and daughter, Kathy Hamby and husband, Jimmy, of Deep Gap; three brothers, Carson Brown and wife, Georgia, of Pfafftown, Vaughn Brown and wife, Sandra, of Clover, SC, and Junior Brown and wife, Earline, of Boone; his sister, Martha Jean Greene and husband, Clay Verne, of Vilas; four grandchildren, Alisha Bruno of Deep Gap, Jordan Brown and wife, Keva, of Boone, and Victor and Jimmy Hamby, both of Deep Gap; and three great-grandchildren, Shaun and Hannah Bruno, both of Deep Gap and Kinsley Brown of Boone. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be conducted Monday morning, February 14, 2011, at 11 o\'clock at Rutherwood Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Gary Lawrence. The body will lie in state at the church from 10 until 11 o\'clock. Burial will follow in the Rutherwood Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5 until 7 o\'clock at Austin and Barnes. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Rutherwood Baptist Church Cemetery Fund., 142 Don Hayes Road, Boone, NC 28607.
