Obituary of J. D. Greene

Mr. John Dale �J. D.� Greene, age 82, of Brookshire Road, Boone, died Wednesday morning, February 2, 2011 at home. Born May 2, 1928 in Watauga County, he was a son of the late John Alfred and Bessie Leona Jones Greene. Mr. Greene was a retired from Hardin Park Elementary School where he worked for 35 years. He was a member of Howards Creek Baptist Church. He is survived by is wife of 61 years; Grace Hayes Greene, one son; Roger Greene and wife Anita of Mt. Airy, one granddaughter; Melissa Greene Vernon, one grandson; Brian Greene, four great grandsons; a number of cousins and several very special neighbors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son Robert Greene and three sisters. Funeral services for Mr. J. D. Greene will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2 o�clock at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Bob Roten. Burial will follow in the Jont Brown Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon prior to the service from 1 until 2 o�clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home.
