Cecil Gilbert Presnell, 67, of Apple Road, Boone, died Thursday morning, January 27, 2011 at his home. Born March 4, 1943 in Boone, he was a son of Admiral Dewey and Jetti Presnell. Gilbert was a member of the Boone Advent Christian Church. Before retirement, he owned and operated Presnells' Auto Shop for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Gloria Gragg Presnell; three children, Steven Gilbert Presnell and wife, Lorrie, of Boone, Sheri Annette Stout and husband, Jimmy, of Trade, Tennessee and James Eric Presnell and wife, Anita, of Banner Elk; four grandsons, Nicholas James Presnell of Spartanburg, SC., Austin Cole Stout of Trade, Tenn., Kayn Patrick Greene and Donovan Eric Presnell, both of Banner Elk; two granddaughters, Cara Elizabeth Presnell of Boone and Shelby Jean Presnell of Banner Elk; two brothers, Olen Craft Presnell and wife, Diane, of Vilas, and Larry Wayne Presnell and wife, Peggy, of Mocksville; two sisters, Effie Grace Crane and husband Robert, and Mary Sue Edwards and husband, Don, all of Morganton; sister-in-law, Mary Presnell, brother-in-law, James Eber Gragg and step mother-in-law, Iris Gragg, all of Boone. A number of aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, William Lloyd Presnell and two sisters, Hannah Melinda Presnell and Lovie Lea Presnell.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon, January 29, 2011 at 2 o'clock at Boone Advent Christian Church, officiated by Pastor Gordon Noble. Burial will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:30 until 8:30 at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home.
