Obituary of Mary H. Norris

Mary Houck Norris, 85, of Briarwood Lane, Boone, died Monday, January 24, 2011 at Glenbridge Health & Rehab. Born February 12, 1925 in Ashe County, she was a daughter of Fred B. and Ada Sheets Houck. Mrs. Norris was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Mill Creek.
She is survived by her husband, John Harold Norris of Glenbridge; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Mary Helen Vaughn and Earl and Ruby Moretz, all of Boone, and Wilma Osborne and Emma Ivy, both of Greensboro; nieces, Jane Ellis of Maryland, Shirley Holman and husband, Kyle, of Todd, and Ruth Stidhams and husband, Roger, of Lansing; and nephew, Arnold Houck of Todd.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her only sister, Annie Houck.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday morning, January 26, 2011, at 11 o'clock at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Billy Norris. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 o'clock, one hour prior to services, at Austin & Barnes.
Burial will follow in the Old Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
