Obituary of Dorothy G. Tugman

Mrs. Dorothy �Dot� Glenn Tugman, age 89, of Meadowview Drive, Boone, died Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Watauga Medical Center. Born December 11, 1921 in Raleigh, North Carolina to the late William Bernard and Margaret Jones Glenn she was married to the late W. Ralph Tugman. Mrs. Tugman was an administrative manager for Farthing Auditorium and worked in the Student Union at Appalachian State University for a number of years. Perhaps she was best known and loved as �Miss Dottie� for her many years of work with preschool children. She was a long time member of Boone United Methodist Church. Surviving Mrs. Tugman are one son, Stuart B. �Sonny� Tugman and wife, Edie of Bethel; three grandchildren, Kurt Tugman of Padre Island, Texas; Christiana Tugman of Asheville and Amanda Bullock of Pinehurst; brothers-in-law Dana Tugman and wife Mary Gordon of Jefferson; Stuart G. Tugman and wife Linda of Greensboro; 8 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband W. Ralph Tugman and one sister, Margaret Glenn Richards. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 2:00 PM. at Boone United Methodist Church with Dr. George E. Naff and Rev. John E. Shields officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the church. Interment at Mount Lawn Mausoleum will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Boone United Methodist Church, 471 New Market Boulevard, Boone, NC 28607.
