Obituary of Richard T. Greene

Richard Todd Greene, age 49, of Creston, and a native of Boone, died Saturday, December 18, 2010, at his home. Born August 29, 1961, in Boone, he was a son of George Calvin and Marilyn Smith Greene. Todd was a graduate of Watauga High School and a member of the State Championship Football Team in l979. He received his B.A. Degree in Resort Area Management from the University of Utah. Todd loved the outdoors and was an avid bicyclist and snow skier. He also enjoyed the art of crafting pottery. Todd was a member of the First Baptist Church in Boone. Surviving are two brothers, Calvin Greene III and wife Freda, of Boone, and Bill Greene and wife, Cheryl, of Germantown, TN; two nieces, Elisa Greene of West Palm Beach, FL, and Mindy Greene of Boone; two nephews, Nathan Greene of Germantown, TN, and Gregory Stamp of Princeton, W. VA.; and one great nephew, Conner Helms of Boone. He is also survived by his close friend, Lisa Day, and her daughters, Mollie and Grace Wilson, all of Boone. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services for Todd Greene will be conducted Thursday afternoon, December 23, 2010, at 1:30 at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Gerald Hodges. The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon from noon until 1:30, prior to services, at Austin & Barnes. Burial will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens.
