Mr. Ernest Clint McGuire, Sr. age 78, of Boone, died Wednesday night, December 1, 2010 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Born in Valle Crucis June 20, 1932, he was a son of the late James Monroe and Martha Rominger McGuire. Mr. McGuire was a Jet Mechanic with the US Air Force, retiring as a Tech Sergeant. He was a member of Willowdale Baptist Church, and the owner of Mac's Monitor Service. Ernest was a former owner and employee of New River Building Supply.
He is survived by his wife Mary Charlotte Ashley McGuire, three children; Charles "Butch" McGuire and wife Ann of Trade, Kathy Hamby and husband Kimi Max of Wilkesboro, and Ernest Clint "Ernie" McGuire, Jr. and wife Sherry of Galax, Virginia, six grandchildren; Stephanie South, Heather McGuire, Amanda McGuire, Ernest Clint "Chad" McGuire, III, Trevor Hamby and Cody McGuire, six great grandchildren; Nathan South, Tyler McGuire, Julia South, Tayla Potter, Destiny Cole, and Logan Pennington, one daughter in law; Cathy Triplett of Salisbury, one sister; Esther Eckenrod of Lenoir, three brothers; Francis McGuire and wife Della Ray of Boone, Talmage McGuire and wife Bernie of Sugar Grove, and Jack McGuire and wife Ellen of Vilas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son; Jerry Len Triplett, one sister, Edna Henson, and two brothers; Bill and Odell McGuire.
Funeral services for Mr. Ernest Clint McGuire, Sr. will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Willowdale Baptist Church. The body will lie in state at the church from 1 until 2 o'clock. Officiating will be Rev. Eugene Braswell and Rev. Gordon Noble. Burial will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:30 until 8:30 at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home.
