Obituary of Conley R. Guy

Conley Ray Guy, 68, of Guy Lane, Lenoir, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. Born May 6, 1942 in Johnson County, Tenn., he was a son of George Sam and Ella Icenhour Guy. Mr. Guy was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church and attended Closer Walk Baptist Church. He retired with more than 30 years service at Bernhardt Industries in Lenoir. Conley was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed gardening and especially small engine repair. The joy of his life was his family and especially time spent with his granddaughters. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Tester Guy; two daughters, Brenda Bowman and Christina Warlick, both of Lenoir; two sons, Robert Guy and wife Sandra, and James Guy, all of Lenoir; three grandchildren, Meredith and Mallory Guy and Amber Warlick, all of Lenoir; one brother, Edward Guy of Mississippi, and two half sisters, Donna Atwood of Pennsylvania and Barbara Rodriguez of Tennessee; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Burl and Earl Guy and two infants, two sisters, Elizabeth Smith and Rebecca Hackett, and a son-in-law, Toney Bowman.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon, November 24, at 1 o\'clock at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Gurney Robbins. Burial will follow in the White Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 until 8:30 at Austin & Barnes. Flowers are appreciated or memorials may be made to Hospice of Caldwell County, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
