Mrs. Ella Mae Wallace Fletcher, 88, of Norwood Hollow Road, Banner Elk, formerly of Boone, died Friday, November 19, 2010 at Life Care Center of Banner Elk.
Born June 1, 1922, in Ashe County, to Roby and Erma Martin Wallace, she was a homemaker and attended Oak Grove Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons: Tommy Fletcher and wife, Susan of Elizabethtown, TN, and Michael Fletcher and wife Dianne of Deep Gap; seven grandchildren: Miranda Fletcher Scott, Kari Fletcher Nathan, Scott Fletcher, Melissa Townsend, Tommy Fletcher, Jr., Mark Fletcher and Brian Fletcher; 15 great grandchildren and 1 great, great-grandchild; by brothers and sisters, Argus Wallace of Boone, Mabel Hagaman of Trade, TN, R. L. Wallace of Mountain City, TN, Genieva Hackney Wright of Indiana, and Billy Wallace of Sugar Grove; by two sister-in-laws, Margaret Wallace of Vilas, NC and Christine Wallace of Creston, NC, and by a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Fletcher was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Fletcher; one son, Robert Gray Fletcher; her parents, Roby and Erma Martin Wallace; by one sister, Edith Henson and by two brothers, Jack and Kermit Wallace.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ella Mae Wallace Fletcher will be conducted Monday, November 22, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Austin & Barnes Funeral Chapel. Officiating will be Dr. Scott Courtney and Joseph McNeil. Burial will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens, Boone, NC. The family will receive friends prior to the services from 12:30 until 2:00 pm at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home.
