Obituary of Frank Owens

Mr. William Franklin "Frank" Owens, age 57, of Hwy 105 South, Boone, the Foscoe community, died Sunday afternoon, November 14, 2010 at home. Born October 19, 1953 in Ashe County, he was a son of the late Joe and Elsie Owens. Mr. Owens was retired from Harris Teeter where he had worked for 32 years. Frank was a member of Cool Springs Baptist Church where he served as song leader. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. He is survived by his wife; Janet Flahart Owens, two brothers; Rev. J. E. Owens and wife Ruby of Millers Creek, and Richard "Moe" Owens and wife Carolyn of West Jefferson, five children; E. Dale Flahart and wife Dee of Houston, Texas, Kim Taylor and husband Mark of Boone, Karen Flahart of Rocky Mount, Hope Presnell and husband Marty of Fleetwood, and Mark Flahart and wife Carolyn of Zionville, ten grandchildren; Rebecca Eubank, Michael Flahart, Kristin Parker, Josh Flahart, Amanda Flahart, Kayla Flahart, Kevin Flahart, Jason Winkler, Matthew Presnell and Madison Presnell, four great grandchildren, his father in law; Worth Mullis of Nottingham, PA, a family friend and caregiver; Sarah P. Finch of Rocky Mount, one niece and three nephews. Funeral services for Mr. William Franklin "Frank" Owens will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Brother Ernie Tilley, Rev. J. E. Owens, and Rev. Burl Greer. Burial will follow at Ashlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday prior to the service from 11 o'clock until 1 o'clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home.
