Doris Hodges Miller, 91, of Aho Road, Blowing Rock, passed away Sunday, November 7, 2010. Born January 23, 1919 in Watauga County, she was a daughter of General Grant and Mamie Moody Hodges. Mrs. Miller was a member of Laurel Fork Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She enjoyed quilting and hand making dolls.
Surviving are two sons, Coy Miller and wife, Shelby and Kevin L. Miller, all of Boone; three daughters, Gail Coffey and husband Robert, Lindel Perry and husband Keith, all of Boone, and Pam Miller and husband, Eddie, of Leicester, NC; ten grandchildren, Kelly and Jennifer Coffey, Nathan, Shawn and Leigh Ann Perry, Aaron Miller , Alice Bills, Ann McClure, and Jason and Ethan Miller; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Zaida Trivette and Marie Isenhour and husband Doug, all of Lake Placid, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jones Luther Miller, one sister, Bonnie Eggers, and three brothers, Dow, Hubert and Dallas Hodges.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday morning, November 9, 2010 at 11 o'clock at Laurel Fork Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Daniel Featherstone and Rev. Delmar James. The body will lie in state at the church from 10 until 11 o'clock. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7 until 8:30 at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at their respective residences.
