Obituary of O C. Watson

Mr. O. C. Watson, age 75, of Hwy 221 North Laurel Springs died Sunday afternoon, October 31, 2010 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. Born January 17, 1935 in Watauga County, he was a son of the late Thomas Jefferson and Belle Ellen Greene Watson. Mr. Watson was retired from Kincaid Furniture. O. C. was a farmer a logger, and a horse trader and loved being with his family and friends. He is survived by one daughter; Libby Matheson and husband Jeff, of Laurel Springs, two sons; Andrew Watson and wife Tabby of Boone, and Anthony Watson and wife Brenda of Spruce Pine, three sisters; Betty Jo Hollars and Beulah Triplett both of Boone and Reba Herman of Vilas, one brother; Arlie Watson of Boone, and eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Ann Buchanan Watson, one sister, Anna Mae Hollars, and four brothers; Burl, Fred, Frank and Allie Watson. Funeral services for Mr. O. C. Watson will be conducted Wednesday morning at 11 o�clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Lonnie Jones and Rev. Billy Norris. Private burial will be in the Yellow Mountain Cemetery. Flowers are accepted or the family prefers memorials to the Stony Fork Baptist Church Youth or the Welcome Home Baptist Church Youth in care of Libby Matheson, 10312 Hwy 221 North, Laurel Springs, North Carolina 28644. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 o�clock until 8 o�clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home.
