Obituary of Maxine B. Greene

Maxine Brown Greene, age 67, of Gateway Nursing Center, Lenoir, and a native and former resident of Watauga County, died Saturday afternoon, September 25, 2010 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. She was born March 20, 1943. Maxine attended Sunrise Baptist Church in Lenoir and Howard's Creek Baptist Church in Boone. She was a hairdresser and homemaker. Maxine was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and was a friend and an inspiration to all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Greene Williamson and husband, Dustin, and two grandsons, Cole and Owen Williamson, all of Lenoir; and her sister, Bernice McGuire and husband, Talmage, of Sugar Grove. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. Maxine was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Ray, an infant daughter, Angelia, two brothers, Bill Brown and her infant twin, Max Brown, one sister, Virginia Brown Hollars, and her parents, Grady and Verlie Jones Brown. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 PM at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Edd Warren and Rev. Joe London. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 pm, prior to services, at Austin & Barnes. Burial will follow in the Jont Brown Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Central North Carolina Chapter, 2211 West Meadowview Road, Suite 30, Greensboro, NC 27404.
