Clara Marcella McKinney, age 90, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday at Roan Highlands Nursing Home. A native of Avery County, NC, she was born one of 12 children on August 26, 1923. Marcella was a member of the Elk Park Christian Church. She loved her flowers and enjoyed gardening, knitting, making dolls and collecting angels and frogs. Most of all she loved talking of old times with friends.
Left to cherish her memory is one son; Warren Jerry Guinn and wife Sandra of Elk Park, two grandsons; Eric Guinn and wife Debbie of Newland and Perry Winters and wife Sheree of Johnson City, Tennessee, two granddaughters; Heather Turbyfill and husband Darrell of Roan Mountain, Tennessee, and Christy Winters of Elk Park, and one brother; Hansel Woods of Denver Colorado. She was preceded in death by one daughter; Brenda Winters, her parents; Lando and Emerette Pritchard Woods, four brothers; Arlie, James, Dallas and Cecil Woods, six sisters; Beatrice Heaton, Annie Holtsclaw, Julie Woods, Goldie Hicks, Leoda Holtsclaw and Rebecca Franklin.
Funeral services for Clara Marcella McKinney will be conducted Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Elk Park Christian Church. Officiating will be Pastor Ryan Shirck and Rev. Chris Hughes. Burial will follow in the Elk Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday afternoon prior to the service from 1 until 2 o'clock.
