Mr. Clifton Victor 'C V' Ashley, age 80, of the Davant Rehab and Extended Care Facility died Saturday morning, September 25, 2010 at the Blowing Rock Hospital. Born May 24, 1930 in Watauga County, he was a son of Roger and Edna Shores Ashley. Mr. Ashley was of the Baptist faith and a retired truck driver for Hollar and Greene. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Ashley is survived by two daughters, Vickie Ward and husband, Ned, of Davidson, and Sharon Hudson and husband, Kevin, of Boone; three grandchildren, Devin and Ashley Ward and Brandon Hudson; one brother, George Ashley and wife, Janice, of Mountain City, Tennessee; and four sisters, Virginia James of High Point, Mary Charlotte McGuire and husband, Ernest, of Boone, Lola Mae Horch of St. Louis Missouri, and Patsy McGuire and husband, Dennard, of Boone. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and Dale Ashley, and his step-father, Floyd Moxley. Graveside services for C. V. Ashley will be conducted Monday afternoon, September 27, 2010 at 2 o'clock at Mount Lawn Memorial Park and Gardens. The family respectfully requests no food and suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Blowing Rock Hospital Resident Council Fund Post Office Box 148, Blowing Rock, NC 28605. Austin & Barnes Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the Ashley family.
