Obituary of Clarence M. Baird

Clarence Malcolm 'Bud' Baird, age 68, of Boone, died Wednesday morning, August 25, 2010 at Glenbridge Health & Rehab. Born October 29, 1941 in Watauga County, he was a son of Ray Glenn and Allie Johnson Baird. Mr. Baird was of the Baptist faith. Prior to retirement, Bud was a mechanic at the Blowing Rock BP and Sam's Busted Knuckles in West Jefferson; he was also owner/operator of an automobile transport service.
Mr. Baird is survived by two daughters, Marty Rominger and husband, Dale, of Zionville and Melinda Arnette and husband, Jeff, of Clyde; one son, Billy Baird and wife, Jessica, of West Jefferson; four granddaughters, Olivia Church of Zionville, Brittany and Allison Arnette of Clyde, and Heather Baird of West Jefferson; four grandsons, Justin and Philip Rominger of Zionville, Brandon Arnette of Clyde and Eli Baird of West Jefferson; one great-grandchild, Peyton Church of Zionville; two sisters, Rachel Woodring and husband, Earl, of Zionville and Mildred Hayes and husband, Bobby, of Arnoldsville, GA; two nieces, Glenda Washburn of Boone and Brenda Miller of Zionville; four nephews, Steve Woodring of Boone, Bruce, Kenneth and Scott Hollars, all of Arnoldsville, GA; and four great nieces,and three great nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, John William Baird and an infant son, Michael Ray Baird.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon, August 29th at 2 o'clock at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Jeff Arnette.
Burial will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock at Austin & Barnes. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent to the Baird family in care of Austin & Barnes Funeral Home, 194 Queen Street, Boone, NC 28607.
