Obituary of Walter J. Schmidt

Petty Officer First Class Retired Walter Joseph Schmidt, Jr., US Navy, died Friday afternoon, August 13, 2010 at Watauga Medical Center. Born October 15, 1944 in Cleveland Ohio, he was a son of the late Walter and Emma Spiesak Schmidt. Walter was retired from the US Navy after 24 years of service. He was a Hull Technician and a member of the VFW. He is survived by his wife; Susan Justice, two sons; Michael Schmidt of Broadview Heights, Ohio and Carl Schmidt, US Navy Yokosuka, Japan, one brother; Andrew Schmidt of Fayetteville, Arkansas, twelve grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister; Lillian Kuzma. Memorial services for Petty Officer First Class Retired Walter Joseph Schmidt, Jr. will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 4 o�clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Steven Spencer. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3 o�clock until 4 o�clock.
