Mr. Joseph Levi Coffey, age 93 of Countryside Drive, SW, Lenoir, formerly of Blowing Rock, died Thursday, August 5, 2010 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care (Lenoir, NC).
Born June 4, 1917, in Avery County, he was a son of Columbus and Mary Alice Woodruff Coffey. He was a farmer, landscaper and attended Boone Fork Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons: Gene Coffey and wife Anita of Lenoir and Larry Coffey and wife Doris, of Hudson, and daughter-in-law, Helen Coffey of Hudson; 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Gragg Coffey; son, Bruce Coffey, great-granddaughter, Taylor Coffey; two sisters: Rosie Graff and an infant sister; five brothers: Arvil, Blake, Bud, Jack & an infant brother.
Funeral services for Joseph Levi Coffey will be conducted Sunday, August 8, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Boone Fork Baptist Church with Rev. Darrell Miller and Rev. Wade Church. Burial will follow in the Boone Fork Community Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday, at the church from 1 until 2:00 PM, one hour prior to services.
