Obituary of Edith M. Church

Mrs. Edith McGuire Church, age 91, of Church Hollow Road, Boone, the Foscoe Community, died Sunday morning, August 1, 2010 at Watauga Medical Center. Born April 20, 1919 in Ashe County, she was a daughter of the late Tom and Mattie Teague McGuire. Mrs. Church was a homemaker and the oldest living member of the Foscoe Christian Church. She is survived by one daughter; Linda Trexler of Boone, two sons; Kenneth Church of Foscoe, and Dean Church and wife Betty of Boone, Wendell Church and wife Marbeth of Foscoe, one half brother; Ray Cardwell and wife Faye of Louisburg, NC, six grandchildren; Carol Cruse and husband Eddie of Maiden, Robert Church and wife Regina of Taylorsville, Kenny Church and wife Elaine of Taylorsville, Lori Combs and husband Todd of Boone, Jeff Trexler and wife Candice of Boone and Jason Church and wife Emily of Boone, 10 great grandchildren; Angela Church, Caden Cruse, Leah Church, Steven Church, Sarah Combs, Owen Combs, Madelyn Trexler, Sullivan Trexler, Tucker Church and Quin Church and one great-great grandchild; Blaze Church and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; Tom and Mattie Teague McGuire; her husband Charley Hale Church, three sisters; Grace Bates, Treva Moretz, and Gladys Atwood, and three brothers; Clifford, Wayne and Bill McGuire. Funeral services for Mrs. Edith McGuire Church will be conducted Tuesday evening at 7:30 at the Foscoe Christian Church. Officiating will be Minister Dan Burks and Minister Ken Caswell. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the Foscoe Christian Church Building Fund, 8834 NC Hwy 105 South, Boone, NC 28607. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening at the Foscoe Christian Church from 6 o'clock until 7:30 prior to the service. Graveside services and burial for Mrs. Edith McGuire Church will be conducted Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens.
