A memorial service to honor the life of Wanda Lee Harmon will be conducted Saturday afternoon, June 26, 2010, at 2 o'clock at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel,officiated by Rev. Richard Trivette and Rev. Charles McKinney. A private interment will follow services at Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Wanda passed away March 25, 2009 at the Watauga Medical Center. She was born July 12, 1952 in Watauga County, the daughter of the late Clyde and Eureka Harmon. She lived most of her life in the Boone area and is remembered as a loving mother and devoted grandmother who had a deep compassion for others. Survivors include a daughter, Melissa Goodpasture and husband John, of Weaverville, her three granddaughters, Hope, Zoe and Abby; two brothers, Cecil Harmon and wife, Pauline, of Banner Elk, and Jimmy Harmon and wife, Diane, of Zionville; and three sisters, Sue Rominger of Banner Elk, Faye Presnell, and husband, Paul, of Banner Elk, and Louise Lombardo, and husband, Mark, of Micaville. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
At her request, her body was donated to the Anatomical Gifts Center at Duke University Medical Center.
