Boyd Potter, age 64, of Meat Camp Road, Todd, died Sunday morning, December 2, 2007, at his home. Born May 4, 1943 in Watauga County, he was a son of Ted and Anner Mains Potter. Mr. Potter attended the Full Gospel Fellowship Church in Rock Creek. He retired from Appalachian State University after working for eighteen years at the Blue Ridge Shoe Plant and seven years with Carrol Leather.
Mr. Potter is survived by; his wife, Jewel Rash Potter; three daughters, Shelia Ann Potter and husband Butler of Todd, Angelia Woodard of Trade, Tennessee and Amy Trivette of Todd; nine grandchildren; four sisters, Pearlee Potter, Emmer Potter, Bonnie Potter and Nell Proffitt, all of Todd; and three brothers, Ervin Potter and wife Zelma of Todd, Ted Ward Potter and wife Bernice of Meat Camp and Coolidge Potter of Meadowview, Virginia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one great-grandson, Joseph Peirson, two sisters, Alverdie Reece and Lydia Moretz, and one brother, Hoover Potter.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Kenneth Phipps and Rev. Ron Emanuel. The body will lie in state at the chapel from 1 until 2 o'clock. Burial will follow in the Main Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:30 until 8 o'clock at Austin & Barnes.
