May 23, 2010 Mr. Robert Belford "Robbie" Adkins, III, age 53, of Slabtown Road, Zionville, passed away Saturday evening, May 22, 2010 at home after a long battle with Cancer. He was born October 17, 1956 in Danville, Virginia to Edith Cooper Adkins and the late Robert Belford Adkins, Jr. Robbie was a retired transport driver for Amerada Hess and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Mountain City, Tennessee. He is survived by his wife; Glenda Triplett Adkins, his parents; Rev. Broadus and Edith Heatherly of Shelby, one daughter; Jennifer Hupp and husband Jeff of Apex, NC, three sons; Joseph "Mikey" Adkins of the home, Dana Triplett and wife Diane of Lewisville, NC, Greg Triplett and wife Nicole of Zionville, four grandchildren; Adam Triplett, Aubrey Boswell, Anthony and Helen Ann Hupp, two sisters; Charlotte Sinclaire of Apex, NC and Cheryl Billings and husband Jim of Blacksburg, SC, one brother; Terry Heatherly of Jonesville, SC, a very special Aunt, Glenda Sigmon of Danville, his father in law, Burl Pardue of Zionville, Julie Miller and husband Josh of Wilmington who was like a daughter, and many special friends including Charlie and Mary Gregg of Zionville, Robert and Linda Bowen of Grover, NC and Ann Hicks of Deep Gap, and his faithful dog Gurtie. Funeral services for Mr. Robbie Adkins will be conducted Monday evening at 8 o'clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Clyde Campbell and Rev. Broadus Heatherly. The family will receive friends Monday evening prior to the service from 6 o'clock until 8 o'clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services and burial for Mr. Robbie Adkins will be conducted Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock at the Reece Cemetery. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to High Country Health Care System Hospice, 400 Shadowline Drive, Suite 100-B, Boone, NC 28607.
