Leah Wilson Schmidt, age 83, of Snowy Oak Road, Boone, and widow of the late Sigurd Ernst Schmidt, died Saturday afternoon, December 1, 2007 at Watauga Medical Center. Born December 13, 1923 in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana, she was a daughter of Early and Velma Beaird Wilson. Mrs. Schmidt was of the Baha'i faith. She was one of the founding members of our local Multiple Sclerosis support chapters.
Mrs. Schmidt is survived by; her step-daughter, Carmel Toliver and husband Ken of Hephzibah, Georgia, one sister, Earlene Brewer and husband Phil of Tavares, Florida; and one grandson, Sean; and her Baha'i Faith family.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Laura.
The services for Leah Wilson Schmidt will be conducted Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel by members of the Baha'i faith. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Blowing Rock.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
