Obituary of Jack D. Cobb

Mr. Jack Dempsey �Jackie� Cobb, age 68, of Maple Drive, Boone, died Tuesday afternoon, May 18, 2010 at Blowing Rock Hospital. Born October 16, 1941 in Belmont, he was a son of the late Jack D. Cobb, Sr. and Eva King Cobb. Mr. Cobb was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Lions Club and the Moose Lodge. He was retired from Appalachian State University Foodservices where he was a valued employee for over 35 years. He was also a recipient of the Governor's Service Award. He is survived by his wife; Judy Lunsford Cobb, one son, Nelson Cobb and wife Crista of Boone, one daughter, Beth Cobb of Asheville, one grandson; Christopher Cobb of Boone, three sisters; Margot Brown Hampton of Boone, Patt Hampton and husband Phil of Statesville and Dr. Erin Kirby of Oxford, UK and by a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Cobb. Funeral services for Mr. Jackie Cobb will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o�clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Edgar Ford. Burial will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park & Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday afternoon prior to the service from 12:30 until 2 o�clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home.
