Mr. Ralph Avery Aldridge, age 80, of Greer Lane, Vilas, died Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at his home. Born March 21, 1930 in Watauga County, he was a son of the late Davison and may Moody Aldridge. Mr. Aldridge was a Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War and served in Germany.
Mr. Aldridge is survived by his wife, Hazel Colvard Aldridge; two sons, Richard Aldridge and wife, Janie of Vilas, and Kenneth Aldridge and wife, Cathy of Todd; two daughters, Janet Cox and husband, Jerry of Sparta, and Carolyn Aldridge and fianc�, Chad Mitchell of Fleetwood; three grandchildren, Kevin Aldridge and wife Kristy, Wendy Whaley and Chad Cox; four great-grandchildren, Lynsey and Abby Aldridge, Westin and Autry Cox; a sister, Essie Lingel of Lenoir and a brother, Rom Aldridge and wife Hazel of Foscoe. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Spencer, Ray, Joe, Lewis and Jesse; three sisters, Charlotte Church, Lora Murray and Jenny Ellis and by one grandson, Keith Aldridge.
Funeral services for Mr. Ralph Avery Aldridge will be conducted Saturday afternoon, May 15th at 2:00 PM at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Dan Church and Rev. Mike Townsend. Military graveside services will follow in the Westview Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday from Noon until 2:00 PM at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home, prior to the service. At other times, the family will be at the Aldridge home.
